"Perceiving the Silk Road, Intelligently Creating the Future" Eurasian Energy Civilization Experience Camp Concludes at CUPK

On July 14th, the ending ceremony of "Perceiving the Silk Road, Intelligently Creating the Future" Experience Camp of Asian-European Energy Civilization, hosted by China University of Petroleum-Beijing at Karamay (CUPK), successfully concluded.

The 15-day program aimed at showcasing an authentic, multi-dimensional, and diverse Xinjiang. By integrating energy technology with experiences in traditional Chinese culture, it established a new bridge for dialogue among Silk Road civilizations and promoted youth exchange between China and Central Asia. Fifteen campers from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan participated alongside CUPK teachers and students in this immersive exploration.

Deep Dive into Chinese Culture:

During immersive cultural activities, participants experienced the unique charm of China's intangible cultural heritage:

1. Jade carving at an intangible cultural heritage museum demonstrated the intricate artistry of "carving an icebound epic" with blades.

2. The lacquer fan-making process unlocked the secrets of mineral pigment ratios – the "chromatic code" of this ancient craft.

3. The magnetic face-changing mechanism used in puppet shows amazed campers with its concept of "instantly transforming the universe."

4. Martial arts training imparted the precision and power behind "the way of attack and defense."

5. An Yu Opera experience introduced participants to the aesthetics of "unity of form and spirit" through flowing sleeves.

Frontline Industry Insights:

Visits to industrial sites deepened theoretical and practical understanding:

1. A technical session at the New Kai Oil Refinery revealed the precise temperature control logic crucial for heavy oil thermal recovery and distillation processes.

2. The intelligent dispatching system at a control center demonstrated how Beidou positioning optimizes energy transport efficiency.

3. A physics popular science base vividly explained the principles of energy conversion and solar energy applications through models, resonance experiments, and solar observation.

A Journey of Discovery and Friendship:

Over the fifteen days, participants collectively explored sites ranging from the historic Dushanzi industrial complex and intangible cultural heritage workshops to cutting-edge laboratories and modern factories. Their journey extended from the Black Oil Mountain to the Devil's City. This shared exploration not only fostered deeper mutual understanding but also forged profound transnational friendships.

Participant Reflections:

Aidana Seitmukhanova, a camper representative and postgraduate from Atyrau Oil and Gas University (AOGU), shared: "I deeply felt the charm of Chinese energy technology and culture and forged deep friendships while gaining valuable knowledge."

Olimpiada Tulegenova, a teacher from AOGU, remarked: "This program was an educational milestone. We look forward to further cooperation in faculty-student exchanges and scientific research."

Closing Ceremony:

At the closing ceremony, heads of relevant functional departments at CUPK presented service certifications to volunteers and certificates of completion to campers.

Speaking at the ceremony, a CUPK representative highlighted the significance of the camp: "The successful holding of this summer camp signifies that youth exchanges between China and Central Asia have entered a new stage of deep mutual learning. The openness and inclusiveness shown by the youth represent the most valuable essence of civilizational dialogue." The representative added that participants had personally experienced the Silk Road's civilizational network, explored its cultural essence and cutting-edge technology, witnessed energy development achievements, and built new bridges of friendship. He expressed hope that the campers would become ambassadors of friendship, sharing authentic stories of Xinjiang upon their return home.
